I'm a weaver, tapestry artist and textile designer based in Bbox Studios, Newcastle upon Tyne. I design and create tapestry art, woven rugs and home accessories on a variety of weaving looms. My work embraces the wonderful world of colour.
I also teach tapestry both in workshops and on-line.
On-line tapestry classes
Would you like to learn tapestry from the comfort of your own home? I have 3 courses currently available with more being planned for 2026.
My on-line school is hosted via the user-friendly Teachable platform. I have two schools:
one for UK/worldwide and one for EU students. Subtitles are available.
Beginner's Tapestry Course
This course focuses on tension, shape making, sett, meet and separate, hatching, cartoons, importance of pigtails and so much more. We use a Mirrix style loom or I show you how to make your own. There is 5 hours of video content plus additional written advice. You only need to use knitting yarn in this course.
Artful Threads - advanced tapestry course
This course is a perfect follow on from my beginner's course or for those with tapestry experience. We switch to using multiple fine tapestry yarns. It was filmed over a 9 month period and has 35 hours of video content. We cover so many topics like colour blending, abstract, seascapes, landscapes, four selvedge/fringless weaving, 3D tapestry, weaving side on and so much more.
Framing your tapestry
This is a great little course to show you how to perfectly mount and frame your works of art in any choice of frame. I list all the materials needed and take you step by step.
Tapestry Workshops
Immerse yourself in my creative tapestry workshops, designed to inspire and ignite your artistic passion. Learn new techniques and create beautiful pieces under my guidance. My studio is in the heart of Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Beginner's Workshop
Spend a day with me learning all about the basics of tapestry. We cover shapes, hatching, tension, sett and so much more. All materials are provided. You will create a small landscape piece or you can freeplay.
Colour-blending Workshop
This new class focuses on learning to colour blend. An exciting technique that lets you paint on the loom. Ideally you will have weaving experience or will have taken my beginner's workshop. You will use my full range of fine tapestry yarns.
