'The Watchful Light’ is a beautifully coloured lighthouse made from pure hand dyed silks.
 
What makes this piece unique is the limited amount of silk threads I was using.  Each strand had multiple colours running through it (that you can only get from the hand dying process) and I just let it be a part of the final image.  It has created a beautiful soft and delicate art work with a sheen. Again I really pushed how much detail I could get in to 5 inches square. 
 
It was designed and woven on my 12” Mirrix Loom. I used 2 threads of silk on my needle to enable colour blending.
 
Size : The textile image is 5” x 5". The wall mounted white frame is 11” h x 11.5” w x 1.25” depth (or 28 cm x 30cm x 3 cm)
 
The tapestry has been carefully hand sewn and mounted onto cotton board. It is purposefully left without any glass over it.
 
Care - a gentle dust of the frame occasionally. Note: do not place tapestries in a kitchen or bathroom.
